Pierre Baldi, Ph.D., is a Chancellor’s Professor of Computer Science, the Director of the UCI Institute for Genomics ad Bioinformatics, and Associate Director of the UCI Center for Machine Learning and Data Mining. He holds joint appointments in the Departments of Biological Chemistry, Cell and Developmental Biology, and Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Baldi received his doctorate in mathematics from the California Institute of Technology. He has received numerous awards and national and international recognition to the computational and life science fields. His research interests include developing machine learning and other statistical approaches for AI and large-scale data mining, developing chemistry expert systems, predicting protein properties, computationally screening and designing new drugs and chemical interactions, comparing genomes, and modeling metabolic, signaling, and regulatory networks in systems biology.
